Is Tempo secure?

Security Overview

Tempo has some of the best security features among online Time Trackers. We use full time SSL encryption for ALL of our web interfaces on ALL of our plans. This includes encryption for

  • the primary site
  • bookmarklet
  • iPhone interface
  • mobile web browser interface
  • dashboard widget
  • XML API.

The only methods of logging time that are not cryptographically secured are Twitter and Email/SMS simply because we have no way of enforcing the encryption. Tempo’s database and web server are protected by a firewall and also run intrusion detection software.

Basecamp & Blinksale

Blinksale and Basecamp are third party software platforms that offer SSL on their premium plans. They have a solid reputation in the web software community. If you check the “Use SSL” option under Blinksale or Basecamp settings in your Tempo account, then communication between our systems will be encrypted.

Is my data backed up?

We back up all of your data on a daily basis.

Can we install Tempo on our own server?

There is no need for any installation. Tempo is available as a hosted service (software-as-a-service). It’s easier this way – trust us to run the system so you’re free to focus on your business.

How do I change my password?

If you have forgotten your password at the login page, you can click the “Forgot password?” and enter the email address that you used to create your account to have Tempo e-mail you a new password. If you remember your current password and want to change it, direct yourself to the Accounts section and enter your new password into the text fields.
